Jeff and I are thrilled to introduce you to Dominic, the newest family member of the Mahoney Home!

As soon as the adoption is final, we can show our sweet boy's face!

Dominic is 12, likes pizza, superheroes and football. He is funny, likes to try new things and quickly became best friends with our dog Wojtek. Our first outing together went so well and felt normal so quickly, that we have no doubt in our minds that this young boy was selected for us long before we even knew we wanted to pursue adoption.

Our little family has been so graciously surrounded with love and support for this miraculous addition. So many of you have asked how you can help, what we need in this next adventure of our lives and where our registry is. Fostering and adoption journeys look differently than baby registry or a celebration with a shower or sprinkle party.

So, here's our humble attempt to share what we need right now and how you can help us.

Welcoming Committee

Please include us in your prayers and special intentions. Transition periods, while happy, can be a time of stress, anxiety and uncertainty. Please pray for peace and patience as Jeff, Dominic and I all learn from each other and integrate our lives together.

Practical Stuff

While it's certainly not the user friendly or comprehensive experience of a baby or wedding registry site, Jeff and I did make a list of items that we have on our radar to purchase. From bath and bedding to games we can play together, these items can give you a picture of some of things that we will be adding.

Click here to access the site at this website, or by sorting below. Scroll past the embedded box for more requests!

Hand-Me-Downs

Do you have clothes, toys or books that are age appropriate for a 12-year old boy? Condition "New" isn't a requirement for us. If you have been looking to to re-home these items that currently reside in your home, we would gladly take them. Dominic is growing so fast that he will need some clothes for school, for the fall and for all the sports activities he will be busy with. Of course, if you see any items on the registry that you already have and want to get rid of- please don't buy new! We would love to accept items that have already been loved in your home.

Cash Funds

You'll notice the registry includes cash funds for things like school supplies, clothes for school etc. You are welcome to avoid the service fees that the site takes out and find us on Venmo. Please text or email me for details.

Meals With Friends

You can help us stock our pantry or freezer with some healthy snacks or meals for our child. Or, if you are so inclined to provide a meal for us in our first weeks as new parents, please schedule it for a day when you can share it WITH US. We want Dominic to get to know his family and the village who surrounds him with love. We will gladly accept food- but would love it even more if you are able to stay and make some memories with us.

Teach Us

We are new parents and we didn't get a manual. (Apparently nobody does!)

What isn't on our list that we should be thinking about?

What handy tips and and advice do you have for us that will help us on our way?

We've got our pens and notebooks ready, so please share your wisdom!

Thank you friends and family: we love you all more than you know!

Yup, I wrote that!

Thanks for reading my blog post. Writing brings me joy and I love when I can creatively express even the most simple events.

What else should I write about? I'm sure that you have great ideas. Or at least ones that I could write a stand-up comedy piece about.
